Live abundantly…

abundance

There’s always someone who is going to know more than you.
Someone who will know less than you.
Someone who has more than you.
Someone who has less than you.

But no one is exactly like you. And no one has the ability to be grateful what they have in the here and now more so than you do.

Choose to live a life of abundance, get more of the things you really want in life by being grateful for what you already have. Even if the day is bad and you feel like you have a black cloud looming over you. Even when everything is just perfect in your life. Be grateful for the here and now, what you have and watch more of the good stuff come to you.

The key is focus on the good; whether it’s good health, sunshine on your face, food in your pantry, a good friend to share with, unconditional love from a four-legged furry friend…whatever it may be. Be grateful for what you have today so you can have more tomorrow.

What are you working for…

Pay To

What are you working for, a paycheck or because you love what you do? If you’re working for a paycheck and just a paycheck – every day at work can be a soul-crushing journey.

Sure, sometimes due to circumstances we have to take a job just for the paycheck but if every single day is just a paycheck job, well, it’s like being in prison.

There has to be some passion around that work or at the very least, it has to be interesting.
If work is something you suffer through, then design your life differently. Think about the amount of time you spend at work – do you really want to come to a place and do a job that doesn’t interest you and brings about no passion?

Do work that defines you. Do work that you enjoy and look forward to. Do work that is more than just making a living, do work that brings about fulfillment for you.

The more interested we are in the work we do, the higher our quality of said work and the higher our happiness can be. Settling for a paycheck is all good and well, for a bit, but eventually the money gets spent and then what do you have?

Get interested again.

Practice mindfulness…

mindful

Today I’d like to recommend we each practice mindfulness.

Notice I say “practice” and not “do”…having to “do” something feels like a burden when our days are already so full, so let’s practice. And in this case, many of us have gotten away from mindfulness in favor of our minds full.

So here is the challenge to practice: pick an ordinary, everyday activity like brushing your teeth, driving to work, washing your hair, whatever it might be. Pick one and rather than going through the motions and being done with the activity – spend time recognizing each movement as you complete the activity. Think about how you feel and how the activity feels. Pay attention to what you’re doing and if your mind begins to wander, rather than judging yourself remind yourself what you’re doing and get back to being mindful of the “what” again.

That’s it. Practice mindfulness today…being in the moment and knowing how it feels and what is happening. It will give you a different frame of mind.

Live well (and mindful, not mind full) my friends!

Enough…

enough-1

What you have is enough.

Maybe what you have isn’t new and shiny. Maybe it’s not a lot but it’s enough.

That’s oftentimes difficult for us to accept because we live in a society that spends a lot of time brandishing the new and improved. Extolling the virtues of more more more! And colorfully showing how much happier your life will be if only you had this new gadget. TV is full of those images…but none of it ultimately makes you or your life better, happier, more enriching, or engaging.

Look around you, be thankful for what you do have, and realize what you have is enough and live from that place first. Once you do you’ll notice how much better, happier, enriching, and engaging your life truly is.

Terrifying and amazing…

pursue

“If it’s both terrifying and amazing then you should definitely pursue it.” ~ Erada

This quote inspires so much in me because quite often the very thing we really want does terrify and amaze us at the same time. It means we have to get outside of our comfort zone, we have to try things we’ve possibly never tried before, we have to meet new people, or speak with our true voice, or go it alone. And all of those things can be terrifying.

On the flip side to that terror is amazement for that things that you CAN do and you CAN accomplish and the possibilities that are not available to you.

So yes, if you are both terrified and amazed at the prospect of doing something – do it. What’s the worst thing that could happen? I’ll tell you what that is; you could succeed and enjoy your life.

Undo thinking it worse…

keep-calm-and-stop-over-thinking-3

Have you ever “over-thought” a situation worse than it actually was? For example: you made a small mistake in the office and the next day your boss schedules a meeting with you and you’re just certain you’re about to get fired. Making your tiny mistake into nothing short of embezzlement. Sure, a lot of us have done that and some of us still do.

It’s difficult to get out from under that type of thinking, so the best thing is NOT get into that type of thinking to begin with.

When we begin thinking a thing into existence it’s just a matter of time before it could become your existence. That thought begins to master us, lord over us, and rule us. And this type of thinking could lead to more of this thinking.

So take a moment when you notice this thinking taking you over and ask yourself: how true is this for you? Has your doom and gloom thinking always been true and accurate? Or has your thinking been the big driver here?

No one is saying you have to only think positive, that would be great but it doesn’t fit everyone, just stop making the situation worse in your thinking.

You’re going to have to work at it…

Now is not the time to give up

Now is not the time to give up

When we are in a time of self imposed transition; every little struggle is a step forward. Family and friends tell us to be patient, well patience isn’t about waiting…it’s all about our ability to keep a good attitude while working hard toward our dreams. It’s knowing that the work you’re doing is worth it. And that it will pay off!

I encourage you to try but put in the time and play full out – or there’s not much point in starting.
During times of transition things feel unstable and wonky and maybe even a little uncomfortable. Remember, you’re exploring outside of your comfort zone so expect some uncomfortable feelings. Maybe you’ll feel like screaming or lose some sleep, and maybe when and what you eat will change. That’s great, you’re stretching your comfort zone and this will absolutely give you chills up your spine.

It is all good because this, all of this, is testing your determination to see how much you really want it. And if you really do want it, you’ll continue on this journey no matter what others say, no matter what rejection you may experience, no matter how tough the road gets. Every step may feel like a struggle but every step is worth it! Now is not the time to quit!

And you want to know why? The feeling you’ll get once you reach your dream – wow, there’s nothing better than that feeling. So what are you waiting for – go for the journey and work hard at it.

Cause and effect…

Ripple Effect

Ripple Effect

Two things that will make us run in circles and create ripples throughout our lives: ignoring what we CAN control and worrying about what we CAN’T control.

There is incredible freedom and power in taking the reins and creating a difference that provides inertia for the long haul. We are each in charge of our actions and thus, the results. Focusing on the things we CAN control and we will determine the results and yes this includes those things that aren’t necessarily deemed as “good”.

In those cases roll with it rather than fight against it and we should do all we can to form the outcome. Think, believe, and behave to create this future.

Then there is worrying about what we CAN’T control.

Take the power and freedom in knowing what we absolutely can’t change, or understanding what constraints we have to work within and continue to build the life we want. But let’s not just turn away – let’s look for any opportunity to bust a constraint and make the impossible, possible.

It’s all about finding creative ways around our obstacles. Let’s say you need money to pay bills that’s your constraint, well, get creative about how you make the money. That’s busting through a constraint. It’s also creating the effect in our lives by finding something we CAN control and finding peace in what we CAN’T.

Is coaching for you?

Stuck in a rut?

Stuck in a rut?

Are you stuck in a rut? Maybe you’re thinking of going back to school, starting your own business, quitting your job to do what you really love, whatever it might be – are you stuck at a stand still?

All too often we have these ideas of what we would rather do but just can’t get it to happen because…we’re stuck. We don’t see how we can accomplish it. It’s frustrating for sure but it happens. There is a lot of thought that goes into making a change; we have to figure what’s missing that’s important, what are the benefits of the change, and what secret benefits might there be in keeping the status quo?

Coaching can help you, ask yourself a few questions first:

  1. Are you ready to create more balance in your life?
  2. Are you ready to improve your personal or business relationships?
  3. Are you ready to make real and positive changes in your life?
  4. Are you ready to create and take action to achieve your goals?
  5. Are you ready to achieve a sense of fulfillment at work and in life?
  6. Are you ready for more fun and enjoyment in life?
  7. Would you like to work less and make more?
  8. Could you benefit from someone who will help keep you on track?

If you answered yes…then coaching may just be what is right for you!

Ultimately though when the pain of staying the same, out weighs the pain of changing – that’s when we find the strength.

Where is your energy level?

Where's your energy?

Where’s your energy?

“To understand everything is to forgive everything” ~ Buddha

Understanding where our levels of energy are is important to understanding if we can forgive and move on or if we can’t move past our anger.

There are seven (7) levels of energy:

  • Level one is the feeling of apathy – here we are a victim
  • Level two is the feeling of anger – here we have conflict
  • Level three is the feeling of forgiveness – here we have responsibility
  • Level four is the feeling of compassion – here we have concern
  • Level five is the feeling of peace – here we have reconciliation
  • Level six is the feeling of joy – here we have synthesis
  • Level seven is the feeling of absolute passion – here we have non-judgment

Each level has it’s own strengths and weaknesses for us as members of our tribe, leaders in our organization, as a partner in a relationship. Understanding which level we show up at is important because only then do we know how to begin shifting our perspective.

If forgiveness is not in your range of possibilities then your level of energy may be low.
It doesn’t have to be that way…you can choose how you show up. If you want to know where your levels of energy  normally reside, contact me for an ELI Assessment and learn more.

Live well and energetically my friends!
